Meet the Team

After growing up on a farm in east central Missouri and proudly serving our country in the United States Air Force, Dr. Nie graduated with his DVM (1988) from the University of Missouri and a MS (1993) and PhD (1994) from the University of Minnesota.

Dr. Flathers grew up in Rochester Minnesota and graduated from the University of Minnesota in 1993. Over the years since graduation, she practiced in a variety of settings and gained a wealth of experience.

Mallory was born and raised in Oklahoma, joined Angel in 2019 and has 4 pets she wishes could be claimed as dependents on her taxes!

Desiree was born and raised in Jefferson, Wisconsin. She has 2 dogs, Bleu and Luna, and is currently enrolled in a Veterinary Technician program. She also has a passion for animals of all types, loves baking and gardening.

Tay has been working with animals for over 6 years and gaining a passion for natural/integrative care within the last year. She has 1 dog and 3 cats and 2 kids. An actual zoo. Free time? What's that?

McCayla is from Republic MO, joined Angel in 2013 and has 3 kitties - Nickel, Cali, and Sheldon Lee.

Olivia graduated from Willard in 2023, joined Angel in 2023, and has a cat (Nickel), chameleon (Rango), and 2 chinchillas (Nova and Chevelle).

Lucy was born and raised in Essex, England. She moved to Florida in August of 2016 and Missouri in October of 2024. She is studying for her veterinary technician license, has a cat named Kaimana which means “Power of the Sea,” and a veiled chameleon named Blue.

Shelby was raised in Smith Center, KS and joined Angel Animal Hospital in 2024. In her free time, she likes to spend time with her dachshunds!

Makayla was born and raised in St. Louis, volunteering at a rescue where her interest in Veterinary Medicine peaked. She has many years of experience with animals and is currently enrolled in a Veterinary Technician program.

Linda has been with Angel Animal Hospital for 40+ years and she says, "it has been an amazing journey." She loves to spend time with her family and her dog Katie. She also enjoys cooking, and making quilts.

Bri is a recent Springfield resident who has fallen in love with the veterinary world. She thanks her fur babies at home for driving her to be a better pet parent!
