"Emmaline was a VERY special dog to me. The reason she was is that when my wife Kathy, passed away on 1/5/06, I was devastated (after 33.5 years of marriage). Emmaline truly provided me with a singular reason to stay around. I was required to get up out of bed each day to feed her, give her water and provide her with the care she needed. Also, she missed Kathy too and we grieved together... and I was not actually alone without her. So that is why she was special.
Dr. Harders: I want to especially thank you for the care you gave her and for your professionalism and for just having liked her too. When Emmaline first got cancer, your recommendations of taking her to Bradford Park and your continued assistance in her cancer care was more than professional... it was personal... and allowed me to have 15 months more with her and to prepare myself (at least partially) for the inevitability of this past Wednesday. I thank you so much for that.
Dr. Flathers: I realize that you arried on the scene late concerning Emmaline, but you also cared for her several times over the short time and also demonstrated true professionalism. I know that you also liked Emmaline (possibly a little more than you might admit ) and I thank you wholeheartedly for that.
To Linda: Thank you very very much for having taken care of Emmaline over the years and for your assistance with several other pets and Mom's dogs. You are a wonderful person who truly cares about the pets brought into the hospital and believe me... that truly helps everyone.
To All the Others: I know most of you by your faces and voices, although sadly, I don't remember all of your names. However, you are a very special group of true professionals. The living plant that the office provided for Dorthy and I is beautiful, VERY thoughtful and truly appreciated. It is setting on a small table next to the over-sized chair and ottoman where Emmaline liked to lay and nap, an appropriate place.
Finally, the card which arrived yesterday (Saturday) was very appropriate and so very thoughtful. Thank you. There will be a time sometime in the near future when I will get another dog as I am a dog lover. I assure you that the new dog's care will be entrusted to Angel Animal Hospital and crew."
